Science Experiment Today

Today we tested our noise blockers with a variety of sounds at different volumes.  Students were quickly able to predict if their noise blocker would block the sound or not.
We then examined what made a good blocker vs. a not so good blocker.

Ask your chid what they learned.

Quiet Please!!

On Thursday we are conducting an experiment in Science to see if we can block sound.

Students are asked to bring in two different items to keep themselves from hearing certain sounds in the classroom.  Please get creative with this!

Here are some examples:

• ear muffs
• head phones
• winter hats
• cotton stuffing
• stuffy
• jacket
• hood
• hands

Please do not bring in items that need to go inside your ear.  

Field Trip tomorrow

Our Field trip to Studio Bell is tomorrow.  Please arrive to school on time as the busses will be leaving promptly.

Students are asked to wear comfortable shoes for this trip as we will only be outside to get on and off the bus and will spend the rest of the time indoors.

Please bring a packed lunch and a water bottle.

If you child has an Epi-Pen please ensure that they have it with them.

Students will be leaving their backpacks at school.

Social Studies and Art Evaluations

Today your child is bringing home their Quality of Life poster with a self evaluation form filled out by both the child and the teacher.

Please speak with your child about their evaluation and what they would do differently with their poster next time.

Please sign and return the forms.

Guest Speaker Today

Today we had a visit from an Audiologist to speak about our Science unit Hearing and Sound.

We learned about the parts of the ear and how sound travels through the ear to help us hear.

Celebration of Learning this Thursday

Hello Families,

This Thursday is our Celebration of Learning! Students and teachers are excited to share their work and learning with you. Classrooms will be open from 6:15 to 7: 45 pm. Families are encourage to visit their child's classroom any time during the allotted time frame. Please allow for at least 30 minutes to spend looking at your child's work and projects. Don't forget to check out all the bulletin board's outside of the classrooms too. 

We are also encouraging families to visit the lost and found for missing items. It is also a great time to check to see if your child's indoor shoes still fit. Don't forget to check out the Scholastic book fair in room 10. All proceed go directly to our school library.  

We look forward to celebrating with you this Thursday!

November’s “CRAZY HAIR” Spirit Day – Tuesday Nov. 19th

On Tuesday November 19th, students and staff are encouraged to get creative with their hairstyle, in support of creating school spirit and to celebrate Crazy Hair Day. This might mean that students may style their hair in a different way than normal, or perhaps add decorations to it. Or maybe they will temporarily change its colour or wear a wig. We can’t wait to see what cool and creative ideas you come up with on Tuesday. 

The Wild Robot

Today we (sadly) finished our classroom read aloud The Wild Robot.  It seemed that almost everyone enjoyed the book and we laughed at all our favourite parts.

Part of being a reader is sharing the love of books and reading with our friends, family, and peers. Today we did just that.

Please ask you child how they liked the book and what were some of their favourite parts.

We will begin a new read a loud soon.

Science Quiz

Your Science Quiz is going home today in your Communication Folder.  Please review it with your parents, have it signed and returned by the end of the week.

We did some INCREDIBLE learning about Hot and Cold temperatures!

Library Visit

Since there was no school on Monday, we will be visiting the school library on Thursday this week.

We will be back to our regular schedule next week :)

Self Evaluation

Today the students brought home a self evaluation of the skills we worked on in Basketball. Please review this with your child and ask them the reason for their answers.

Please sign and return in their communication folder as soon as possible.

Book orders are going home today.  Please order by Friday November 8. You can order online or bring in the order form and a cheque.
