Egg Experiment - Day 7

Today we took one egg out of the vinegar...

We noticed that the egg turned a bit yellow, and it was missing it's shell due to chemical erosion. It felt cold, smooth, squishy, slimy, rubbery, and weird. It smelt like the vinegar we used.

After we touched it we tested to see if it would bounce. Please watch the video.

After we bounced the egg we tried to pop it with a toothpick. We weren't sure if it would burst like a balloon, flow out like a volcano, or explode.  We also weren't sure if the center would still be liquid and if the membrane would be attached or eroded.

Here's what happened:

Volunteers Needed

ArtFelt Studios, and 4 of their artists will be coming to CJP from Feb 3 12. All kindergarten to grade 6 classes will be able to participate in this residency. Each class has a morning, or afternoon, that they will be spending with one of the artists to create an individual piece connected to curriculum currently being studied in their classrooms.
Guess what? In order for this to be successful we NEED volunteers in the spaces with these artists, and the classroom teachers. The recommendation is for 4 adults per session. On some days we have 3 artists in the building at the same time. That’s 12 volunteers at a time!!! This is going to be a great opportunity for our students, and for you to also learn more about the process. If you are available anytime between the February 3 12 please sign up
at: https://signup.com/group/146999386319958024
If these dates don’t work for you watch for the next opportunity in March, when classes will be rotating through a whole school project. Another amazing opportunity for our students, thanks to support from all the fundraising initiatives. Thank you!
Learn more at: https://www.artfeltstudio.com/

Please see the side bar with important dates for the dates and times our class will be participating.

FANCY FRIDAY – January 17th.

Our January Spirit Day will be next Friday January 17th. All students and staff are encouraged to dress in their “Fancy” clothes. Students and families are welcome to determine what “Fancy” means to them but might include wearing clothes that are too dressy to wear to school on normal days. Perhaps for some this may be a dress, and for others a collared shirt or tie. Maybe it means wearing costume jewelry or clothes that are important to your family’s cultural celebrations. Please remember that students need appropriate indoor footwear for Physical Education and may spend time outdoors as part of their class’ Body Break or with their Clubs selection.
